Dressed Like Santa...

As we were headed out, Ian wanted to wear his sunglasses.  (at night)  He then tells me he's dressed up just like Santa.
I still am not sure what to do about the Santa question.  When everyone kept telling Ian that Santa was coming, he started having nightmares about Santa.  My policy before this was to just not mention the 'S' word.  I had to give him a talk and tell him that Santa was nice and wouldn't take his blanket.  I don't want to lie to Ian about Santa because I want him to believe me when I tell him about God.  I also don't want Christmas to be all about the material aspect.  (although I know that the presents will always be the exciting part)
How do the rest of you do the whole Christmas thing?

this is a bit late lol... i never did santa with kasey... we talked about santa and the story of Saint Nicholas but I told her that the focus of Christmas is Jesus and that is what we celebrate. Presents were a way for us to show love to each other, as Jesus commands but presents don't have to be material things. It was a tough call... and most of my family was very against me not doing santa... (Plus as she got older we had to figure out ways for her to answer people's questions about Santa without revealing to nearby children that she didn't believe in Him. And I had to make sure that she didn't spill the beans to the other members our family.) I on the other hand, am really happy that we didn't do it and I don't think she feels cheated by not having done it. Good luck... it's a tough choice either way.
Blessings, Krissy

Just reread that.. I didn't mean Jesus commands us to give presents... but to love one another... lol.

Thanks for the input! I've decided that we are going to say that because the wise men brought presents to Jesus, we give presents.
