I had big plans on Monday!
I was going to put Ian down for a nap, start some laundry, do the dishes, take a shower, and if I had time, play some games on the computer.
I decided that I would start this by a trip to the bathroom. (hey we all have to go) I flushed, washed my hands, and went to the bedroom to get the first load of laundry. I thought I heard water dripping so I went back to the bathroom to investigate and saw water coming from the back of the toilet tank. I grabbed a couple of towels and put them where the water was and looked for a valve to shut it off. Nothing. I ran downstairs to the basement and grabbed the phone on the way. I called the landlord, no answer left a message. I called Ben, same. I called my Mom and even she wasn't home. Then I remembered some friends who live around here and called them. (all the while looking around the basement as if the water turn off valve had neon lights and arrows pointing to it) They were both home so I talked to the husband and he told me what to look for, there was nothing like what he was describing so he said he was on his way.
At this point I ran back up to the bathroom to change the towels and I put down three more to sop up the water. When he arrived, he went upstairs and tried to fix the leak from the bathroom. When the pipe came off and started spraying water, he showed me where to put my finger to stop the flow and he ran to the basement. As I leaned over the toilet in my PJ's with my finger trying to stop a spraying pipe, I just started laughing and told God that I thought He had a funny sense of humour. I was praying frantically that God would show him where the water shut off was cause the water was about 5 centimeters deep by this point.
The bucket that we had under the pipe was full so I thought that I would let go of the pipe, empty the bucket in the tub and quickly grab it again. Just as I let go, the water stopped.
All of my towels were now soaked on the bathroom floor and people started calling me back. My landlord was away but his son-in-law came and fixed the mess.
I now have a hole in my kitchen ceiling, a very clean bathroom floor, and a bunch of bleached towels. Just another day.
